The Improvisational Quilt

Circular Tablecloth

There a three tricks to making a successful (large) round tablecloth.  It’s very gratifying to create a table covering with no center seam, which hangs nicely.  The technique works equally well for picnic, dining, or boudoir tables—in fact, this circular cover could easily make a tree skirt too!

Make and Use Your Own  Bias Binding

Kids’ Camp

We welcome children, ages 8-11 to our second weeklong summer program with Mary Belle Ahearn.  In this session, children (with no previous sewing experience required) will make a series of back to school projects.  This will be a week of fun and skill development from Monday, August 10 to Friday, August 14 from 2-4 pm.  Depending on the age and skills of the participants, Mary Belle expects to complete a binder cover, pencil case, book tote and other  items. This is a really efficient way to take a quilt class!

Convergence is a study in color and intensity.  Using simple cutting and piecing techniques, you will make a striking art quilt by gradually blending colors from divergent corners of the quilt.  It’s fun, and a little surprising.
