Antelope Canyon
- Aug 27, 2017 12:30 pm

Use precut 2 ½ inch and 1 ½ inch strips to make this dramatic quilt, the latest pattern from designer Laurie Shifrin. Once the four large log-cabin style blocks are made, you can experiment with different layouts. The sewing is not difficult, assuming an accurate quarter inch seam, but planning and organization are essential. (Hence the first, one hour planning class.) Use autumn colors,as Laurie did, to evoke the canyons of the southwest, softer colors to suggest tide pools as in Hilary’s version, Low Tide, or black, white and gray, for a dramatic, masculine look.

This class will provide instructions for making a small bowl and hopefully have you leaving with your bowl and all you need to make more. Be careful - it is addictive, but if you are a quilter and/or sewing "nut", you know all about that!!! The Larry Sheckman Show
- Oct 19, 2017 06:30 pm

Larry Sheckman, manufacturers’ rep for several companies, will be here to show us some of the newest fabrics from Timeless Treasures and, if we are lucky, some of his other lines. Larry has been in the fabric industry for a whole lot of years and has witnessed many changes in the industry. He has lots of stories to tell. He is also a designer. As the go-between for the fabric shops and the designers and manufacturers and a designer himself, he has a unique perspective on what the trends are and what customers like to purchase and make. I am sure it will be a fascinating evening! The event is $5 and includes a beverage and light eats (crackers and cheese, peanuts, that sort of thing). We will cap attendance at 50.

Set aside your dread of that four-letter M work (that would be "Math") and bring your colored pencils or crayons for a fun session reminiscent of those carefree school days! If you have a particular block that you'd like to draft, bring a picture of it, and we'll solve the puzzle.
