JINNY BEYER BOOK COMING MARCH 14TH

We're thrilled to announce that Jinny Beyer is coming to Capital Quilts on Sun., Mar 14 at 1pm. Jinny will be signing copies of her new book, The Quilter's Album of Patchwork Patterns. This is truly an historic work as it encompasses more than 4,000 individual quilt patterns (almost 500 designed by Jinny herself over the last 35 years). Jinny points out that the book is more than a simple encyclopedia; a plastic tool included with the book makes it possible to recreate every block in the book. Whether you have an interest in designing your own blocks, in the history of each of the blocks Jinny has collected, or are determined to own a first edition of a book that will be collected for generations to come, you should take advantage of the opportunity to own your own copy of this tremendous resource.

Jinny will be signing the book at Capital Quilts at 1 pm. Call today if you would like to reserve a copy in advance.

Good news!  We have purchased several Pfaff model 2058 machines exclusively for classroom use.  They are sophisticated, reliable, and quite easy to use.  If you need to use  one of our machines we will be delighted to instruct you in threading, bobbin winding, and use of the automatic needle down, foot up program.  From now on, there will be a $10 charge to use the machine in class.

2010 Club News

BREAKFAST CLUB

This year’s Second Saturday Club begins Saturday, January 9, at 9 am.  The group will be led by Joyce Hockman (with enthusiasm!) and features coffee and a breakfast treat, and the presentation of a quilt you can cope with, made of 2½” strips.  Each project will come with complete directions in multiple sizes from table runner to queen sized.  As always, we will have show and tell for your recent accomplishments. We plan to provide kits for the projects to speed you to completion.  Additionally, if you’ve wondered what to do with your jelly rolls, rounds, and Bali Pops, this may be the answer. Club is limited to 50, so join now!  12 sessions, 1 ½ hrs. each, $48.

QUILT CLUB

Would you enjoy coming once a month to learn the tricks of a fairly simple block, mingle with other wonderful quilters, share anecdotes about your quilting (and other!) adventures, and pick up a fabric kit for this month’s quilt?  Join the Quilt Club, and over the course of the year you will complete the American Beauty Quilt by Marti Michell, with fabric from Maywood.  This is a perfectly lovely Queen-sized bed quilt with a light or dark variation.  Click below for a picture.  Donna Gemeny will lead the group, teaching important techniques, and encouraging participation throughout the process.  Club membership is $48, and includes all patterns and the Template set L to be used in the block construction.  American Beauty fabric is available for $19.95 per month, $239.40 for the year. Block of the Month policies are available at the shop.  Members who wish to purchase the year’s kit all at once will receive a discounted price of $199.
