The book provides instructions for blocks with a finished size of 6 inches, plus 5 layouts of different size quilts and useful commentary on color, techniques, and tools. Each month, group members will create blocks from a section of the book, and later in the year they will assemble them in the quilt design of their choice. Every quilt will be a unique representation of each quilter's individual vision. Along the way, we'll talk about color, piecing techniques, shortcuts, and arranging completed blocks in a satisfying pattern. The City Sampler blocks are approachable for beginning quilters, while intermediate and advanced quilters will enjoy playing with color and trying the Design-Your-Own-Block challenge. City Sampler quilts look great in Tula Pink's fabrics, of course, but work well with many other options: solids, batiks, blenders, monochromatic, scrappy.
