Garment sewing is making a comeback. People want to have some unique pieces in their wardrobe. Learn the basics and more in this club.
February 3 – Garment Sewing Basics – Patterns are a good start
• Materials – Bring a couple favorite garment sewing patterns and your measurement chart if you have one.
April 7 - Cutting and Marking
• Materials – Bring a pattern, cut apart, fabric, pins, scissors and marking tools you like
June 2 – Basic Wardrobe Sewing – seams and supports
• Materials – bring several pieces of garment fabric to test interfacings and seam finishes
August 4– What about the raw edges: facings, waistbands, bindings and other construction essentials.
• Materials – bring your favorite garments so we can figure out what finishes were used.
October 6 – Hems and other hand stitches – There are a bunch.
• Materials – be ready to sew some hems!
December 1 – Holiday sewing – fabrics and techniques used in garments for festive occasions.
Rae has been creating custom clothing professionally for more than 20 years. During that time she has received many awards and accolades for her skill and creativity. For more than 10 years, Rae has also been creating wearable art jackets, perfecting the fit for her many clients in the Baltimore area.
Rae is also a nationally respected teacher, and is a contributor to Threads Magazine and Sew News Magazine.
