Tired of sewing alone? Join fellow quilters for a virtual quilting bee. Settle into your favorite sewing space with your favorite Zoom-compatible technology for 2 hours of stitching and chatting. Everyone will have a chance to talk about what they’ve been working on and pose questions to the other quilters. No masks required! Each month, we are inviting a guest-expert in some aspect of quilting and needlework, who will be on hand to answer questions about their specialty.

  • April 1: Quilts, food, history! We’ll take an online tour of the Legacy Quilt on display at the Museum of Food and Drink as part of their exhibit, “African/American: Making the Nation’s Table.” This quilt, with more than 400 blocks made by members of Harlem Needle Arts, honors African-American contributions to agriculture, commerce, culinary arts, beverages and more.
  • May 6: Linda Hunter enjoys the challenges of postcard quilts, usually 4x6 fabric gems that can be made and mailed. Tune in for inspiration to try this on your own.
  • June 3: Demo night. Participants are invited to showcase and share their favorite quilting tools and techniques. You’ll see demonstrations of ruler work, the AccuQuilt Go! cutter, and much more.
  • July 1: Jan Wisor has followed quilt and fabric designer Victoria Findlay Wolfe for years, so come for lots of modern, elegant examples of VFW’s work and insights into VFW’s process. She’ll be fresh from a VFW workshop with tales to tell!

Note: you must download the Zoom app/client, and you will need a camera/webcam, microphone, and speakers, as well as an Internet connection. On the day of Sew Together, you’ll receive an email with a link to the Zoom meeting. Please confirm that Capital Quilts has your current email address and phone number.
