Tired of sewing alone? Join fellow quilters for a virtual quilting bee. Settle into your favorite sewing space with your favorite Zoom-compatible technology for 2 hours of stitching and chatting. Everyone will have a chance to talk about what they’ve been working on and pose questions to the other quilters. No masks required! Each month, we are inviting a guest-expert in some aspect of quilting and needlework, who will be on hand to answer questions about their specialty.

  • December 3: Maestra of miniatures Joy Dorman will talk about working on small-scale on quilt blocks: the appeal, special skills, adapting blocks, and plenty of photos.
  • January 7: Samantha Reizes’ art education included a seminar in the South Pacific, where she had a hands-on introduction to Tivaevae, the traditional quilts of the Cook Islands. She’ll showcase the bold colors and large-scale appliqué inspired by the local environment.
  • February 4: Cornelia Burr is crazy for Crazy Quilts! She is going to give a little history of crazy quilts and share some stunning examples.
  • March 4: Karey Herriman has a collection of her grandmother’s feedsack fabrics from the 1930s through the 1950s . She’ll share photos and discuss feedsacks as quilts and other uses for these amazing chicken feedsacks.
  • April 1: Linda Hunter enjoys the challenges of postcard quilts, usually 4x6 fabric gems that can be made and mailed. Tune in for inspiration to try this on your own.
  • May 6: Jan Wisor has followed quilt and fabric designer Victoria Findley Wolfe for years, so come for lots of modern, elegant examples of VFW’s work and insights into VFW’s process.

Note: you must download the Zoom app/client, and you will need a camera/webcam, microphone, and speakers, as well as an Internet connection. On the day of Sew Together, you’ll receive an email with a link to the Zoom meeting. Please confirm that Capital Quilts has your current email address and phone number.
