Draw on paper side, roughly cut out shapes, fuse to applique fabric, closely cut out drawn shapes, then remove paper and position pieces in order and fuse onto background fabric. Finish edges with your favorite stitch.
The NEW SCHMETZ Super Nonstick Needle has a slippery surface that ensures less adhesive residue sticks to the needle. Features A Super Universal Needle with a non-stick coating of NIT (Nickel-Phosphor-PTFE). Extra-large eye is suitable for embroidery work. The eye corresponds to a needle two sizes larger (i.e., the 70/10 Non Stick eye is similar to a size 90/14 regular Universal eye). Strong conical blade reinforcement easily handles thick fabrics like denim. 4 sizes available, $5.49/5pk.

In this class, we will PRACTICE. Let's try some other patterns and techniques! We'll explore meandering fillers using stencils and more. Some previous experience with free motion quilting is required. Karen Fricke teaches, Friday, 4/20 at 1:30pm.

Novelty Collage: Have you ever made a collage, perhaps with pictures of your children or a vacation, or in art class when you were in school? You can make collages with fabric, too! Instead of cut-and-paste, it's cut-and-sew, then add details with thread, beads, lace, or whatever strikes your fancy. Karen Fricke teaches on Monday, 4/23 at 1:30pm.
Quilting by hand is immensely satisfying and a terrific stress-reliever. Not only that, others will ooh and aah over your beautiful quilt. Put on your favorite music or a book tape and find your quilting Zen. Chris will show you how to mark your fabric, what needles, thread, and thimbles to use, and how to do the stitches. A state of peace and a beautiful quilt are in your future! Handquilting: The Ultimate Finish is being offered on Tuesday, 4/24 at 10:30am.
Don't have enough room in your house to easily sandwich a quilt? Bring your top backing batting and supplies to CQ and we will help you sandwich that quilt in no time! ONE appointment is still available for Sandwich Day on Tuesday 4/24.

Bring your machine, handwork, a new project or an old project, perhaps some food to share, or just come to talk and have fun with other quilters. Capital Quilts will provide beverages and have staffers on hand to assist you in any way they can. Our FREE Sit 'N' Sew happens on Friday, 4/27, 5-9.

Liz wants to share her love of wool with you in Intro to Wool Embroidery! Wool is hot in more than one sense of the word; find out how to create some of the beautiful stitches that are used to embellish wool applique on Saturday, 4/28 at 1:30pm.
If you have a Janome, why not sign up to have Marianne clean and oil your machine on Sunday, 4/29?
Ginny Brown teaches Love Links on Sunday, 4/29 at 12:30. Love Links is a Modern 180 pattern designed by Running with Scissor Quilters. BLUE BAG BONANZA
The April prize is a Dream Fusible Batting by Quilter’s Dream, 60” x 46”. It is made with 80% high grade long staple USA cotton fiber blended with 20% fine denier poly microfiber for a soft, silky batting that drapes beautifully and breathes well. The long staple cotton fiber reduces shrinkage and adds stability so that the stitches can be up to 8” apart. The poly microfibers add a loft and resistance to creases/wrinkles. There are no scrims, glues, or other binders to resist the needle, so this fine batting can be hand or machine quilted with ease.
To be entered in each month’s drawing, bring your Capital Quilts Blue Bag with you when you shop. Make sure you show it to the staffer at the register! Upon completion of your sales transaction, your name will be put in the jar for the drawing at the end of the month. The more you shop, the more chances you have to win. Don’t have a Blue Bag? Purchase one at the shop, by phone, or online for just $4.99. We save all of the entries for the year, and at the end of the year we draw a Grand Prize Winner from all the entries.
Sign up for our 5th Saturday Club! Purchase your Gold Tag for $10 and be able to participate in special sales on each of the four 5th Saturdays on 2018.
Our thanks to everybody who shops at Capital Quilts and who participates in the Blue Bag Bonanza.
