If you know someone who keeps saying, "I need to learn how to sew," please let them know about the upcoming Sew Days! On six Thursday evenings, from 6:30-9, starting on June 14, we will have classes aimed at those who want to learn how to sew. The first project is a table runner. Learn how to measure and cut fabric, sew a straight line, and do an easy mitered corner. $5 per class, pre-registration required. Bring your own machine if you have one; use one of ours if you don’t.

CLASSES
If the big Handi Quilters intimidate you (they really shouldn’t, you know), try the little Simply Sixteen. Annette Burns will show you the ins and outs on Saturday, May 19, 10:30-12:30 in her Getting Started: the Simply Sixteen class. It is a pre-requisite for those who wish to rent the machine, and a great way to learn about it if you are considering buying one.
ProStitcher Premium: the Next Steps is a class for those who have taken the basic Getting Started class and want to know more. You will go more in depth on edge to edge quilting and start custom quilting. Class meets on Saturday, May 19, 1-4. Beth Morningstar is teaching.
Bruce is back on Sunday, May 20th. Please make an appointment now to have him clean your machine then. One appointment is currently available.
 Join Anne Brill on Tuesday, 5/22 at 10:30am for Honey Bunny. Learn to sew up 1-1/2” strips to create a fun and easy baby quilt. Great class for confident beginners. Fun for all skill levels!
There are elementary schools in our region that have what one principal calls a "vocabulary gap", where children haven't had a good start at learning. "I Spy" quilts are good for learning to pick out images by name. On Friday, 5/25 at 10:30am, help us make I Spy quilts for schools in DC, Montgomery County, Prince Georges County, and Frederick County. All fabric is provided. Please bring your sewing machine and basic sewing supplies. Please register for this free event, so we'll know how many people to expect.
The 25th is a great day for things free! Our monthly Sit 'n' Sew starts at 5pm. Bring your machine, handwork, a new project or an old project, perhaps some food to share, or just come to talk and have fun with other quilters. Capital Quilts will provide beverages and have staffers on hand to assist you in any way they can.
