The ten shop owners who are working hard to bring you a fabulous Quilters’ Quest shop hop had their last meeting this week. Everything is on track to be the best Quest ever! Stop by my office the next time you are in the shop and I might give you a sneak peak of this year’s tote bag. The tote bag is given to those who visit all ten shops during Quest. The easiest and most fun way to do that is to ride one of our buses! We still have room on both buses, one on October 19 & 20 and the other on October 22 & 23, but they are beginning to get full. Don’t miss out; sign up today!
Capital Quilts sponsors awards at the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair every year in some of the quilting categories. This year’s winners are Ann Marie Schmelter, for Best Applique; Shelli Ritenour, for Best Embroidery; and Ann Ferguson, for Best over 70. Congratulations to all of you!
Did you know there is a way to load quilts on your longarm frame in about 20 minutes instead of an hour, no pinning involved? How, you ask? By using LEADERGRIPS. Last weekend Susan Manry, Handi Quilter Educator extraordinaire, showed us how to use them easily and quickly. We have 2-leader and 3-leader systems; use the 2-leader system if you like to float your quilt tops. If you float your tops, you can use a new product called Super Clamps to help maintain tension in the top. Ask for a demonstration next time you are in the shop.
Go n Piece, Alison
