There are 2 seats left in Getting Started: the HQ Simply Sixteen on Wednesday, May 29, 11-1. Completion of this course certifies you to be able to rent the Simply Sixteen longarm machine. If you are thinking about purchasing a Simply Sixteen, this is a great way to learn about the machine in depth.
Friday, May 31st is our monthly FREE Sit 'n' Sew from 5pm-9pm. Bring your project and perhaps a snack to share with other quilters. We provide beverages. Space is on a first come, first served basis.
JUNE CLASSES Take your quilting to the next level in Getting Started: the HQ ProStitcher Premium on Sunday, June 2, 1-4. You will learn the structure, functions, and buttons of this software plus how to do a simple edge-to-edge quilt design. Completion of the course allows you to rent the ProStitcher here in the shop. Elyse Turkeltaub teaches.
Learn how to select the best needle to go with the thread that is best for your project. Barbara Kascic unravels the mysteries of threads and needles for you in her popular Needles and Thread lecture on Wednesday, June 5, 10:30-11:30.
Make a T-Shirt Pillow and at the same time learn the technique for making a T-shirt quilt! Take a favorite t-shirt, stabilize the knit fabric, add a flanged border, and create an envelope-style pillow cover. Insert a pillow form and you have a keepsake for a favorite person. Debra Ball teaches this class on Thursday, June 6, 10:30-1:30.
Learn how to longarm quilt in Getting Started: the Handi Quilter Longarm Machine on Friday, June 7, 6-9. Completion of this course certifies you to be able to rent the Amara and Forte longarm machines. If you are thinking about purchasing a longarm, this is a great way to learn about the machines in depth.

CAPITAL QUILTS CARES:

May 25 – Join the QOV (Quilts of Valor) group and help us make quilts for veterans. We have enough sewists signed up already, but you can help with pressing, putting blocks on the design walls, or just generally helping the sewists. 3:30-6
June 13 – Make Fidget Quilts for people with Alzheimers and other forms of dementia, ADD, or autism. You will machine piece a small quilt using charm squares, then embellish it with buttons, hook-and-loop tape, zippers, ribbons, and other fun add-ons. Some hand sewing is required. Jan Wisor leads this project. Skill level: confident beginner. 1-4
June 14 – Celebrate Flag Day by participating in this QOV sewing event to make quilts for veterans. 10:30-12:30
June 16 – Stitch along with Billye Roberts to make string quilts for the Interfaith Works Women’s Center. These quilts decorate the beds in the shelter, making the rooms welcoming and cheerful. Skill level: easy. 12-3 Small Kennel Quilts: We are always accepting small kennel quilts, and we always have free kits available for you to take home to make and return to us. They are a perfect little project for practicing your quilting skills! We receive requests from shelters for completed kennel quilts on a frequent basis, and there are a lot coming in now from the flooded and tornado-torn parts of the Midwest. We are running low on finished quilts and need your help making more. NEW AND NOTEWORTHY
