Dear Sewing Savants,
Welcome back from your summer sojourn!
We are very busy getting ready for Quilters’ Quest shop hop, which is just 5 weeks away. Have you reserved your seat on our motor coach yet? We travel to all 10 shops in 2 days, Monday and Tuesday, October 14 and 15, and we provide lunch, snacks, and a hostess with the mostest to make your trip easy and fun. You will receive a Quilters’ Quest 2019 tote bag with some goodies inside, a chance to win some very nice prizes, and a card for a 15% discount on purchases made at all 10 participating shops during the next year, through September 30, 2020 (some exclusions apply).
We will be vending at a quilt show this month, Saturday and Sunday, September 21 and 22. The show is presented by the Friendship Quilters of Linthicum and Eternal Quilters guilds at the Lindale Middle School, 415 Andover Road, Linthicum Heights, MD, from 10-4 each day. There will be some 200 quilts on display, vendors, boutiques, demonstrations, a silent auction, and raffle quilts. Come see us!
Our thanks to Nancy Sharp for sharing her quilts with us in August. This month, we present the quilts of Bobbie Korengold. Bobbie makes award-winning quilts in the Baltimore Album style, by hand, and they are absolutely gorgeous. She will be here on Saturday, September 14, at 3 to give a lecture about her work. The lecture is free, but please register online, by phone, or in the shop so we know how many people to expect. Thanks!
Do you know anyone who would like to learn how to sew? We are offering a beginning sewing class, “Learn to Sew”, on Saturday, September 28, from 1-4. The students will learn how to thread and use their sewing machine, how to sew a straight line and a curved line, and make a pillowcase.
The next Capital Quilts Complete Course of Quilting, our 10-week long everything-you-need-to-know-about-quilting class, begins next Wednesday, on September 11. There are 2 classes, one in the afternoon, from 2-4, and one in the evening, from 6:30-8:30. Sign up for one or the other online, by phone, or in the shop.
Thank you for shopping at Capital Quilts!
Go ‘n’ piece, Alison

Quilt of Valor: These quilts are tremendously important to the men and women who serve our country. Help us support our vets by making a Quilt of Valor. Joining the workshop this month is Eleanor Balaban, who will have a Show & Tell with some of her quilts (she won 2 ribbons at MoCo Fair in August). Eleanor will then lead the group in a quilt pattern called Diabolical Jane with patriotic fabrics.
