What's New at CQ 10/17/19

"I never feel lonely if I've got a book - they're like old friends. Even if you're not reading them over and over again, you know they are there. And they're part of your history. They sort of tell a story about your journey through life." Emilia Fox

Dear Fellow Travelers,

Quilters’ Quest is well underway, and we are thoroughly enjoying meeting all those who visit Capital Quilts. We have met people from as far away as California and Canada and seen some great T-shirts (“wine drinker with a sewing problem”). All seem to be having a good time and enjoying the journey.

Even if you are not questing, be sure to stop by and admire our decorations and buy some raffle tickets from the Friendship Star Quilters, Nimble Fingers, and/or Clustered Spires guilds. The quilts are gorgeous! While you are here, stroll into the Gallery and vote for your favorite Book Cover Challenge quilt.

Have you taken a picture of yourself here at Capital Quilts for the 2019 Scott Sent Me Challenge? You can find the complete rules at In short, you take a selfie at as many shops as you can through 11/30/19 and post them on Instagram and/or Facebook with the hashtag #ScottSentMe2019. There are prizes to be won, ranging from $100-$1,000 in credits to spend in your favorite quilt shops. All winners will also get some pre-cut fabric from Scott Fortunoff. Scott’s companies include Free Spirit, Henry Glass, StudioE, Blank, and A.E. Nathan Co. We have set up a picture-taking station here in the shop under the “Kaffe” sign near the cutting table. Make sure you get the sign that says “Scott Sent Me” in your picture! Please send the picture to as well, because there are prizes for the shop to win, too.

If you let us know you can’t make it at least 8 days before the class, you will get a store credit of the class fee. Cancellations 7 or fewer days before the class are not refundable, but you can try to find someone to take your place. If there is a waiting list, we’ll try to help with that. The Supply List for each class may be found on our website at the lower left-hand corner of the class page. You may have to scroll down to find it.

No classes or club meetings will be held during Quilters’ Quest, 10/11- 10/20.

Barbara Kascic will deliver her popular Needles & Thread Lecture on Thursday, October 24, 2-3. Find out what needles work well with different kinds of thread and how using the wrong thread with the wrong needle can affect your stitch.
