Dear Fellow Shut-ins,
I sincerely hope that you and your families are well and remain so. My staff is healthy, and we are keeping the shop well disinfected. I am getting really tired of that Clorox wipe smell! If you missed Monday's email and social media posts, Capital Quilts is only processing orders for curbside pickup, or for shipping. We are not allowing customers into the shop at this time, and are limiting employees to no more than 4 (including Kat and me) at a time.
Please stay in touch with us. Post your projects on our social media sites (be sure to use hash tags), or send pictures that we can post for you. Call with your questions and your requests. Visit with us and others on social media, or by videochat.
Quilting will get us past this Coronavirus Crisis! To help you out, we are putting together Flatten-the-Curve Kits that you can buy online and have sent to you via mail or pickup here at the shop. And/or sign up for our Corona Challenge! You get a yard of fabric, free shipping, and the chance to express how you are feeling about this virus. We’ll hang the quilts in the Gallery and/or post them online, depending on how long this crisis lasts. Make them at least 20” x 20” but not larger than 60” x 60”. Use the fabric we send you along with fabric in your stash or that you buy (hopefully from Capital Quilts!). Return them to us by May 17. Click here or call the shop 301-527-0598 to take on the Challenge!
Bruce and Marianne are still servicing machines on Sundays. If your machine needs a little love, make an appointment online or by phone and bring it to the shop before the appropriate Sunday or that time on Sunday. We will meet you curbside to get your machine into the shop. You can wait for it to be done (but not in the shop) or come back later.
Need something from Capital Quilts? We’re getting in new fabric, batting, and so on all the time. Shop online, give us a call, or send your order to sewit@capitalquilts.com (remember to include your phone number). We can ship you what you want, or you can specify Pickup in Shop (a new service!). We’ll notify you when the order is ready for you to pick up and meet you at the door or your car! It’s all about social distancing, right? Call when you get to the shop and we’ll be right there. Online shoppers: I can’t afford to give you free shipping, I’m afraid, but please enjoy $5 off orders over $50! Type in the code 6T26C in the “apply coupon” box at check out.
We are doing our best to protect you, our community, our families, and ourselves while we continue to serve our customers. Please, if you are feeling at all unwell, including but not limited to a sore throat, cough, fever, or shortness of breath or if members of your family are feeling poorly, please do NOT come to the shop. Shop online or by phone or email instead. If you come by and later develop symptoms, please let us know so that we can self-quarantine, disinfect, and alert any others who may have been exposed.
An extra special thank you for supporting Capital Quilts with your dollars, your online voice, and your energy during these tough times. I appreciate your choosing to shop at Capital Quilts to keep our wonderful community here for all to enjoy.
Go ‘n’ Piece, Alison
CAPITAL QUILTS CARES All Capital Quilts Cares events in the shop are cancelled until further notice.
That said, we have free pillowcase kits available that you can sew at home. They are a wonderful beginner project to do with children. The kiddos will learn some sewing skills and stay busy, too! We can mail them to you for a small fee, or you can pick them up curbside. Return the finished pillowcases to the shop (when you can; there is no rush), and we will donate them to Ryan’s Case for Smiles. Due to limited supplies, we ask that you limit your pillowcase requests to one per sewist at a time. (For example, if you're home with two children that you want to teach to make a pillowcase, you may request three kits.)
When the month started, we announced that each completed pillowcase earns the maker into a drawing for a "swag bag" that includes, a CQ Gift Card. We will now hold off on the drawing until April 30th (or later, if necessary).
CLASSES All classes, clubs, and events are cancelled until further notice.
When we begin to reschedule classes, those of you who had registered before will be given the first opportunity to sign up for the new class.
