What's New at CQ 12/12/23

Dear Friends,

It's only thirteen days until Christmas. Are you ready? Shopping done? Quilting projects finished? Kicking back, eating bonbons, and watching the Hallmark Channel? Or are you like me, with 75 half finished projects, one of which may be done in time. I might have a clean outfit to wear... There's still time to get gift cards. Yes! Gift cards for everyone! Crap. That means another list...

Happy Sewing!

Second Saturday

The January 5th topic for Sew Together via Zoom is Temperature Quilts. Participants are encouraged to make one in 2024, and several ideas and techniques will be discussed.

Gather up all your unfinished sewing and bring it to Capital Quilts on January 12th.  Enjoy time you can dedicate to getting those projects DONE!  Kat will be here to offer suggestions, guidance, and support.

Slow stitching is gaining popularity! If you'd like to try hand-piecing, we have a class for you!  Starting on January 15th, Laurie will instruct you on how to make your own stunning Lone Star wall hanging!  The class is spread out over three sessions to give you plenty of time for "homework".

On January 20th, put your walking foot to work and watch it travel miles and miles of stitching! Betsy will teach the basics of using your walking foot, and you will make nine sample blocks.

Make a Carmel Tote of your own on January 21st! Just six coordinating Fat Quarters and some fusible fleece is pretty much all you need.

On January 27th, Kate shows you  how to create these lovely storage bins. The pattern will be included in the class fee. These adorable bins can be made in several sizes. Use them for storage or for beautiful gift baskets.

CQ Cares (Community Sewing Projects)

We have placemat kits available at the shop, please stop by to pick up one (or two). For those who want to sew from their stash, click on the picture for the beginner-friendly Charm Square Placemats pattern, or you can use your own pattern.

Please return all completed placemats to Capital Quilts.
Thank you for your continued support of the Capital Quilts Cares program.

We have free small kennel quilts kits available. These little quilts are sent to shelters who take in pets displaced by natural disaster. To quilters, they are a great beginner project, a use for leftover fabric, and a place to practice free motion skills. To use your stash, visit www.kennelquilts.com
