What's New at CQ 1/2/2024

Dear Friends,

Happy New Year! As with many of you, I am thinking about rearranging and reorganizing for the new year, but my sights are on the shop! We've gotten in our new longarm, and will be setting that up shortly... in the old classroom! Yes! We are swapping the spaces for the longarms and the classroom. Other things around the shop may move as well, but we are here to help you figure out where things are.

We are also gearing up for our first* Block of the Month! We've chosen Roam by Tara Faughnan, a modern quilter with an eye for color. The quilt itself finishes at 87" square, and is medallion style.  Each "round" demonstrates a wide range of techniques that will build the skills of novice quilters and will be a fun play day for the experts. Techniques include traditional piecing, strip piecing and an easy no-tear paper piecing. The quilt kit is all gorgeous shot cotton (reads solid) from Windham's Artisan Cotton line. With a full compliment of video tutorials and online learning support for all the BOM participants, Tara will share her tips and tricks for each step of the way, ensuring everyone has a great time and comes away with a beautiful quilt! These videos will be available to participants until February 2025. And, this is in addition to monthly in-person instruction at the shop. Interested? Registration for this program will be available next week.  Please note that the quilt kit is mandatory, and that the pattern is not available separately.

Happy Sewing!
-Marianne

CQ Cares (Community Sewing Projects)

We have placemat kits available at the shop, please stop by to pick up one (or two). For those who want to sew from their stash, click on the picture for the beginner-friendly Charm Square Placemats pattern, or you can use your own pattern.

Please return all completed placemats to Capital Quilts.
Thank you for your continued support of the Capital Quilts Cares program.

We have free small kennel quilts kits available. These little quilts are sent to shelters who take in pets displaced by natural disaster. To quilters, they are a great beginner project, a use for leftover fabric, and a place to practice free motion skills. To use your stash, visit www.kennelquilts.com
