What's New at CQ 1/30/2024
Are your UFOs dragging you down? We know the feeling! It can be overwhelming to face a number of unfinished projects. We are here to help! Introducing the AREA 51 UFO CLUB! The concept is simple: register for a nominal fee ($5) and provide a list of ten UFOs at the start of the program. The goal is to complete (piecing the quilt top OR finish the whole quilt) by the first Sunday of the following month. This club starts now, and runs through the end of the year! Show us proof by bringing it in or sending us a photo, and earn incentive discounts! We have added a number of weekday Open Sew sessions to help you find dedicated sewing time. Also, did you know it is NEVER too late to register for any of our clubs? While online registration does not work after the club has started, we can always override that here in the shop -- just ask! Every winter, ByAnnie's.com runs a Local Quilt Shop Contest, created to highlight the efforts of local quilt shops and provide the general public an opportunity to show their appreciation. We encourage you to vote for your favorite at www.lqscontest.com/vote, and hope that it's Capital Quilts! Voting ends February 29th.
Happy Sewing!

Our first Open Sew is scheduled for Thursday, February 1! Start the month off sewing with like-minded quilters in our classroom, without household distractions. After Thursday, expect to see one every two weeks or so. |
Relax on Friday nights with fellow quilters for a virtual quilting bee. Settle into your favorite sewing space with your favorite Zoom-compatible technology for 2 hours of stitching and chatting. Everyone will have a chance to talk about what they’ve been working on and pose questions to the other quilters. Each month, a guest speaker shares her enthusiasm for an aspect of quilting – a designer, a technique, a hot topic -- with lots of inspiring ideas and photos. The next session is this Friday, February 2nd. |
We have ONE seat available in the morning session of the National Quilt of Valor Sew-in day this Saturday, February 3rd. |
Who knew selvages could be so much fun? On February 4th, let Elizabeth show you how to Transform your Selvages! Save those selvages and turn them into useful quilty projects, both small and big. You will make several different sampler blocks, including the spool block, to turn them into projects of your choice at home. Shortcut tips and tricks for working with selvages will be covered. |
On February 17th, gather up all your unfinished sewing and bring it to Capital Quilts. Enjoy time you can dedicate to getting those projects DONE! Kat will be here to offer suggestions, guidance, and support. |
Our January Quilts for Kids workshop was such a success, we are repeating it monthly! The next session is on Wednesday, February 21st. Register, bring your sewing machine and basic supplies, and help us make a quilt! |
