What's New at CQ 8/13/24

We are already seeing some "I Got The Music In Me" Challenge quilts come in! As a reminder, they are due on or before Labor Day (Monday, 9/2/24). We like what we've seen so far! There are still (almost) three weeks until the deadline, so there's time to join the fun, if you're up to it. We would like to remind shop hoppers that we are unable to stamp passports for a hopper who is not present. Although we understand that things come up, the rules of the shop hop prohibit this practice. Please do not ask us to break them. That said, we have met some WONDERFUL new customers. Today, a hopper brought with her the mini quilt she made from the magazine, and it was great! Look for it on our social media.

Tips for Shop Hoppers: When you are here on your hop, don't miss our "Selfie Station", where you can take your photo under the saying "Why yes, we are sewciopaths". And, if you post it to FaceBook or Instagram and tag the shop, you will be entered into both a weekly drawing for a prize valued at approximately $30, and also a Grand Prize Drawing when the Shop Hop ends. We still have some of the Shop Hop fabrics in stock. And, we have a rack with all of our exclusive Capital Quilts patterns for you to peruse. If you are bringing with you a friend that hasn't been here before, make sure they tell the cashier that it's their first visit. We have a surprise for them! Be sure to drink plenty of water, eat good food, and do not leave your animals in the car! We are a dog-friendly shop, so bring them in.

On August 19th, join our Quilt of Valor group! Both morning and afternoon spots are available. These quilts are tremendously important to the men and women who serve our country in the military. Help us support our vets by making a Quilt of Valor. The group will make one quilt. All fabric is provided. Just bring your sewing machine, supplies, and lots of energy!

Show us how you are inspired by a song with color in it -- either title or lyrics. Your submission should be 18" x 30", have three layers, and be quilted. You may piece, applique, foundation piece, EPP, collage, thread paint, quilt and embellish to your heart's content. Yes, there will be prizes! Yes, there will be a Gallery Show! Yes, we will have fun! I might even be convinced to have a party for all those who choose to participate! Submissions are due on or before Labor Day.

We will soon have free pillowcase kits available! We donate all pillowcases to Ryan's Case for Smiles, who in turn distributes them to children battling serious illness. Pick one up next time you're in the shop, then complete it and return on your schedule. Alternately, use your stash and any of the Million Pillowcase Project patterns.

We have placemat kits available at the shop, please stop by to pick up one (or two). For those who want to sew from their stash, click on the picture for the beginner-friendly Charm Square Placemats pattern, or you can use your own pattern.

We have free small kennel quilts kits available. These little quilts are sent to shelters who take in pets displaced by natural disaster.
