What's New at CQ 9/24/24
If you are waiting for a Playful Portraits class with Elizabeth to open up, have we got an announcement for you! She contracted with a local quilt group to teach it for them here in the shop, but they haven't filled all the seats. Their loss is your gain, as these seats are now available to the general public! Click on the photo to register. For over a year, we were without a pillowcase coordinator to take the pillowcases that you all make, and distribute them where they are most needed. At that time, we stopped accepting pillowcases as we were out of room to store them! Well, the new coordinator Kathy reached out and wants to do a sew-in on the 25th of October! We are thrilled to be working with Kathy and have scheduled not one, but two sessions! As with all CQ Cares projects, the workshop is free to attend but you MUST register beforehand. Completed pillowcases may once again be dropped off at Capital Quilts, who will submit them to Ryan's Case for Smiles for delivery to children in hospitals.
Happy Sewing! -Marianne

Join Mari for our Project Dress a Girl Sew-in on September 27! These dresses are given to girls living in poverty, both in the U.S. and around the world. A girl wearing a new dress presents an appearance that she is well cared for and may discourage would-be predators. Since we attach a Dress a Girl label on the outside of each dress, it sends an additional message that each girl is under the care of an organization, giving her added protection from those who would harm her, predators or traffickers. You will need to register for this event, as our classroom space is limited. Bring your sewing machine in good working order and basic sewing supplies. Mari will walk you through making this dress, but with sleeves! |
Debra has made another Sew Wonderful pattern, and she can't wait to share it with you in class starting 10/2. Metro Hoops is similar to a double wedding ring, but the hoops do not interlock. It's a very modern look! |
Relax on 10/4 with fellow quilters for a virtual quilting bee. Settle into your favorite sewing space with your favorite Zoom-compatible technology for 2 hours of stitching and chatting. Everyone will have a chance to talk about what they’ve been working on and pose questions to the other quilters. Each month, a guest speaker shares her enthusiasm for an aspect of quilting – a designer, a technique, a hot topic -- with lots of inspiring ideas and photos. |
Linda is known for her collage quilts, amongst other things. She is teaching the Haunted House Collage by Laura Heine starting 10/9. |
On 10/13, Karen Kehl is here with her class, Scrap Swap: Playing with Colors. This class will help you play with colors, either those you like best or those you avoid. At the end of class, you will end up with a small panel, suitable for making a small wall hanging, pillow, or tote panel. |
