What's New at CQ 12/31/2024
Happy New Year! We will be closed Wednesday, 1/1/25 in honor of the holiday. We are going to start off the new year with some new classes, a smile on our faces, and a song in our hearts. We are hoping that 2025 with be a healthy year for everyone! My staff is taking bets on how long that will last. We will be holding prize drawings on Thursday: one for the $75 Gift Card, and one for the UFO club. Stay tuned for the winners!
Happy Sewing! -Marianne

You may already be familiar with the art of Luke Buck. P&B has released Hometown, his first fabric collection! Two panels depict bygone days in small-town Americana that some of us reminisce about with fondness. |
Make your own Leather Voodoo Pincushion! Mari from Inspired Leather has made these kits available to us, as the pre-made pincushions were such a hit. The kit contains everything you need. |
Meadow from P&B Textiles features Jacqueline Schmidt's signature sketchbook style and earthy colors. The outdoorsy theme features birds, leaves, butterflies, ferns, and more. Diminutive coordinate prints are offered in a wide variety of rich colors and full-bodied neutrals. Wendy Sheppard has written TWO free patterns for this collection! |
Set aside your quilt patterns and find freedom in the design process with the Quilter's Inspiration Deck, a set of cards designed to prompt spontaneous, joyful creativity. The cards allow you to choose color, block, mood, fabric type, layout, and more. This is great for anyone who needs to get their "sewjo" back, and promises to be a lot of fun for groups. |
We've gotten in new binding tools to make your quilt finishing even easier! The Third Hand Binding Folder Clip makes it easier for you to create binding. It's like having a 3rd hand to fold the binding in half while you iron! The Third Hand is adjustable so it fits a standard ironing board as well as thinner boards.
As you create your binding, organize it with the Binding Wheel. It allows you to easily roll up your folded binding while you are ironing. Set the Binding Wheel next to your sewing machine and the binding will easily roll off as you attach it to your project. It holds enough binding for a king sized quilt!
And, to keep that binding wheel from moving around on you, use the Wheel Clamp to hold your Binding Wheel in place to make loading fabric faster and easier.

In 2025, the Second Saturday Club is going to explore color, technique and creativity. We will be making two projects this year: Ode to Mary Blair, pattern by Corinne Sovey Design Studio and Vitamin Sea, pattern by Swirly Girls. Both projects are suitable for the confident beginner. The more advanced quilter will be able to challenge themselves by learning new techniques, pattern and size adjustment and playing with color. Registration is OPEN! Don't forget that since this class is held over ZOOM, you need not be local to the shop to participate! |

Join Linda and the QOV group on 1/13 to make a Quilt of Valor. These quilts are tremendously important to the men and women who serve our country in the military. Help us support our vets by making a Quilt of Valor. The group will make one quilt. All fabric is provided. Just register for either the morning or the afternoon session, then bring your sewing machine, supplies, and lots of energy! |
Jan is teaching Wagon Wheel pattern by Denyse Schmidt Quilts. Wagon Wheel is a quilt that is timeless, quirky and graphic. The large scale of the blocks makes for a fast finish. Not only can you showcase your favorite prints, but it's also FQ friendly! NO CURVED PIECING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED! This class meets once a month for three months, starting January 15th. |
We have a Thursday evening session of the Complete Course of Quiltmaking starting on 1/23. This quilting course teaches everything you need to know to start making your own quilts. This course covers the basics: getting to know your sewing machine, rotary cutting, fabric selection, and a variety of techniques for machine-piecing quilt blocks. You make a sampler quilt and learn to sandwich, quilt, and bind your masterpiece. |
Betsy is teaching her popular Walking Foot 101 class on 1/25. Put your walking foot to work and watch it travel miles and miles of stitching! Learn the basics of using your walking foot by making six sample blocks. The January class is full, but it is being offered again on 2/22. |
