What's New at CQ 1/7/2025
Well, we dug ourselves out and got into the shop today, but it was lonely. Now is the time to learn something new, inside, where it's warm. Second Saturday starts this weekend! (And, it's on ZOOM! You can participate from anywhere, in your jammies if you want.) If you could learn ANYTHING quilt related, what would it be?
Happy Sewing! -Marianne

Cloud9 has sent us the newest installation in their Frank Lloyd Wright collection. The main April Showers print is available in four colorways, which all coordinate fabulously with the new Coonley Tulip print and the House Beautiful blender prints we brought in previously. |
From Riley Blake, the Twirl & Swirl collection features multicolor batiks with a midsize design, perfect to pair with anything on the batik wall! We have 5" charm squares and 2.5" strip sets. |
From Sallie Tomato, we have this clear vinyl with a super fun white leopard print. |
I have gotten in another bolt of the Gistav Klimt Lake Scene that is so popular, along with a few new Klimt blenders. |

In 2025, the Second Saturday Club is going to explore color, technique and creativity. We will be making two projects this year: Ode to Mary Blair, pattern by Corinne Sovey Design Studio and Vitamin Sea, pattern by Swirly Girls. Both projects are suitable for the confident beginner. The more advanced quilter will be able to challenge themselves by learning new techniques, pattern and size adjustment and playing with color. Registration is OPEN! Don't forget that since this class is held over ZOOM, you need not be local to the shop to participate! |
ADDITIONAL CLUB INFO All clubs are accepting enrollments. Click on the Club name to learn more. |

Just register for either the morning or the afternoon session, then bring your sewing machine, supplies, and lots of energy! |
Jan is teaching Wagon Wheel pattern by Denyse Schmidt Quilts. Wagon Wheel is a quilt that is timeless, quirky and graphic. The large scale of the blocks makes for a fast finish. Not only can you showcase your favorite prints, but it's also FQ friendly! NO CURVED PIECING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED! This class meets once a month for three months, starting January 15th. |
We have a Thursday evening session of the Complete Course of Quiltmaking starting on 1/23. ONE seat is available. This quilting course teaches everything you need to know to start making your own quilts. This course covers the basics: getting to know your sewing machine, rotary cutting, fabric selection, and a variety of techniques for machine-piecing quilt blocks. You make a sampler quilt and learn to sandwich, quilt, and bind your masterpiece. |
Betsy is teaching her popular Walking Foot 101 class on 1/25. Put your walking foot to work and watch it travel miles and miles of stitching! Learn the basics of using your walking foot by making six sample blocks. The January class is full, but it is being offered again on 2/22. |

We have free pillowcase kits available! We donate all pillowcases to Ryan's Case for Smiles, who in turn distributes them to children battling serious illness. Pick one up next time you're in the shop, then complete it and return on your schedule. Alternately, use your stash and any of the Million Pillowcase Project patterns. |
For those who want to sew placemats for Meals on Wheels and/or Iona House from their stash, click on the picture for the beginner-friendly Charm Square Placemats pattern, or you can use your own pattern. We also have free kits in the shop.

We have free small kennel quilts kits available. These little quilts are sent to shelters who take in pets displaced by natural disaster. To quilters, they are a great beginner project, a use for leftover fabric, and a place to practice free motion skills. To use your stash, visit www.kennelquilts.com |
