What's New at CQ 4/29/25
As time progresses, prices tend to go up. Please be aware that some of our services will go up in price this year: longarm quilting, sandwiching, and longarm rental. Unfortunately, our costs on these services have gone up, and in order for us to be here for you in the future, we must raise our prices as well. Longarm quilting prices will be going up on July 1st by about 20%. All quilts received in the store prior to July 1, 2025 will be charged at current rates. Quilts received July 1 and later will be subject to the new pricing structure. I have not firmed up the other two yet. Some of our vendors have recently announced upcoming price increases as well, due to new tariffs. AccuQuilt, whose entire line is made in China, has already put initial price increases in place. On a happier note, summer is just around the corner. Enjoy the sunshine and warmth. Quilt outside!
Happy Sewing! -Marianne

From QT Fabrics, we have Dan Morris's Into the Woods. This print was originally a coordinate for some of Dan's collections, but customer response was so fantastic, it was turned into a blender line. |
Add style and liveliness to all your projects with this painterly tweed-like texture from QT Fabrics. Use alone as a unique pattern choice, or infuse bursts of color, texture, and movement into your quilt and project creations. While a free pattern wasn't designed for this line, Woven Wonders from Blue Bear Quilts was! We don't have the full line in yet, but you can certainly get started on your version! |
If you visited the Baltimore Heritage Quilt show this past weekend, you likely saw our version of Dutch Windmills by Villa Rosa Designs. What you may not know is that we have it kitted up in both dark and light backgrounds! |
Classes |
Relax on Friday evening (5/2) with fellow quilters for a virtual quilting bee. Settle into your favorite sewing space with your favorite Zoom-compatible technology for 2 hours of stitching and chatting. Everyone will have a chance to talk about what they’ve been working on and pose questions to the other quilters. Each month, a guest speaker shares her enthusiasm for an aspect of quilting – a designer, a technique, a hot topic -- with lots of inspiring ideas and photos. |
The Quilt of Valor group meets on Monday, May 5. Why not join them to work on a quilt to be awarded to a service member touched by war? These quilts are very important to the people who serve our country. There are seats available in both morning and afternoon sessions. |
Let us baste your quilt for you! No more crawling around on the floor trying to get it done. Just make an appointment and drop off your sandwich parts (pressed quilt top, pressed backing, batting, and either spray baste or basting pins) before the date of your appointment. We'll let you know when it's ready to pick up. Sandwiching service is available on 5/6 and 5/27. |
We are holding TWO Longarm Rental Certification classes in May: the 13th and the 22nd. This class prepares you to rent our HandiQuilter Longarm Machines. And, if you are interested in using the computer for your rental, you'll need to take the Prostitcher Premium Rental Class as well. Classes are on 5/13 and 5/23. |
We are holding our Quilts for Kids Charity sewing workshop on 5/14. All of our charity workshops are free, but you must register as space is limited. Quilts are currently being donated to Comfort Cases for kids in the foster system. |
We are probably all guilty of falling in love with a charm pack and buying it, then not knowing what to do with it! Why not use it in Elizabeth's class? Take ONE charm pack and two yards of background fabric to make this NO WASTE quilt with minimal cutting. Learn “web” piecing to make this quilt even faster. Come join the fun in making a throw size quilt, approximately 55 inches by 55 inches with just one charm pack. Don't have a charm pack? No worries! Use your stash to cut forty-two 5" squares. Students will leave class with all the skills necessary to complete this Quick and Easy Charm Quilt top at home. This class is TWO sessions, starting 5/21. |

For those who want to sew placemats for Meals on Wheels and/or Iona House from their stash, click on the picture for the beginner-friendly Charm Square Placemats pattern, or you can use your own pattern. We also have free kits in the shop.

We have free small kennel quilts kits available. These little quilts are sent to shelters who take in pets displaced by natural disaster. To quilters, they are a great beginner project, a use for leftover fabric, and a place to practice free motion skills. To use your stash, visit www.kennelquilts.com |
