What's New at CQ 5/27/2025
When we were in Baltimore, we shared a booth with Fit for Art whose lecture was standing room only! The guild said they'd never seen a turnout like that before, and it speaks to Rae and Carrie's teaching abilities. If you are new to garment sewing, we highly recommend a class with Rae! She is a wonderful teacher, and knows how to help you get the fit you want in your clothes. I spoke with them about the possibility of an event with us later this year, and before I finalize plans, would you prefer a workshop, a trunk show, a book signing, a lecture, or some combination of the above (please specify)? They also put out a book late last year on quilted jackets. This book is chock full of inspiration, illustrated step-by-step instructions and practical tips for success in sewing quilted and patchwork coats and jackets. It includes 10 inspirational jacket and coat projects for adults and kids, 2 tiled PDF patterns, and a QR code link to download full format patterns. Projects range from relatively basic, wholecloth and patchwork, to advanced piecing, applique, collage, and reversible jackets and coats. We have some on order. And, as a reminder, prices for longarming services are going up by about 20% on July 1, 2025. All quilts received BEFORE this date will invoice at current prices. Quilts received on or after July 1 will invoice at new prices. Happy Sewing! -Marianne

The 10" Merry Go Round is the die to try for May! Round and round this classic block goes, with just a touch of modern illusion. As complex as it may look, this block is easy for any quilter to create with this die to do the hard work of cutting for you. Designed to cut an entire 2-color block in one pass through any GO! Cutter, this is a die you need in your collection. Suzy Webster designed a free wall hanging pattern to go with this block, called Merry in Spring. This fun wall hanging is like a breath of fresh spring air that will feel at home almost anywhere! It may look complicated, but this is a perfect weekend project that's "sew" much easier than you would think using the GO! Merry Go Round 10" Finished Block on Board die. |
I thought the gadget I highlighted a few weeks ago was so amazing, that I ordered a bunch of them. It is really useful to be able to both pick up AND RELEASE pins with this magnetic tool. |

Jan is obsessed with making these little Americana Flags, constructed with Foundation Paper Piecing (FPP). She says that this small project (10 3/4 x 13 3/4) is a perfect one to learn the technique with. You'll be amazed by how easy and precise it is! You can use scraps or fat quarters, and you will gain a skill that will open up a whole other world of patterns. Jan is teaching Introduction to Foundation Paper Piecing on Sunday, June 8. Pattern and foundation papers included! |
