What's New at CQ 6/3/2025
I was on vacation a couple of weeks ago, and missed my shop owning anniversary. Never one to turn down a celebration, I am having a celebratory Anniversary Sale this weekend, Friday, June 6 through Sunday, June 8. All in-stock merchandise will be 20% off. It's a great time to plan a new quilt, stock up on basics like thread, or just add to your stash. All the usual disclaimers will be in place: no discounts on machines, furniture, classes, services (including machine repair and longarming), special orders, previous purchases, and anything already discounted. And, as a reminder, prices for longarming services are going up by about 20% on July 1, 2025. All quilts received BEFORE this date will invoice at current prices. Quilts received on or after July 1 will invoice at new prices. Happy Sewing! -Marianne

Introducing Granny Squares by Tammy Silvers! Whether you choose just four gradation fabrics, or 16 different solids, Granny Squares is a modern take on traditional crocheted squares. Granny Squares is Studio 180 friendly - the Tucker Trimmer tool makes all of those Half Square Triangles a breeze to trim! Three sizes are included in the pattern - Crib, Lap, and Large Lap. This would be a fantastic pattern to use with Jennifer Sampou's Sky ombre fabric. ![]() |
It Takes A Village celebrates hometown heroes in a palette of primary colors and neutrals. What quilt would you make with this 10" square stack? |
The Fat Quarter Molehills template is here! We've had the original template before (and still do!), but now you can use the new FQ Molehills template with Latifah's updated Molehills pattern. We've seen a few of these made, and they're all wonderful! Last year, Latifah teamed up with Jennifer Sampou for a six-part "The Hills" sew-along using the original template. The live sew-along is over, but all six months of videos are still available. Click on the picture below to access them. |

Relax this Friday night (6/6) with fellow quilters for a virtual quilting bee. Settle into your favorite sewing space with your favorite Zoom-compatible technology for 2 hours of stitching and chatting. Everyone will have a chance to talk about what they’ve been working on and pose questions to the other quilters. Each month, a guest speaker shares her enthusiasm for an aspect of quilting – a designer, a technique, a hot topic -- with lots of inspiring ideas and photos. |
If you want to learn to use our longarms, you should sign up NOW for the Getting Started: Longarm Rental Class! The next offering of this class is on June 9th. |

Get it Done! for June is on the 14th. Gather up your unfinished project and bring it to Capital Quilts, where you'll enjoy 4 uninterrupted hours of sewing. Kat will be on hand to help you over any rough spots. We have two ironing stations and several design walls, but you will need to bring your machine and tools. |
Our Quilts of Valor group meets on 6/16 to work on a quilt for a veteran touched by war. Please register for either the morning or the afternoon session, as space is limited. |
We've just had a spot open up in the Walking Foot 101 class with Betsy on 7/27. In this class, you will install your walking foot, test thread tension, learn to start and stop; learn several methods for marking a design on your quilt sandwich; and fill six squares with different walking foot designs: straight lines, regular grids, irregular grids, triangles, curves, and spirals. |
