What's New at CQ 10/28/25

Dear Friends,

We've been working on the kits and model for the tree skirt I told you about last week. If you want to take the class, great! If not, you can still purchase a pre-cut kit and make it on your own - the pattern is included!

Because we used the AccuQuilt cutter, it goes together so easily, it's amazing!

We have blocked off the first Saturday in December (12/6) for Demo Day. We have a few instructors that have agreed to present! As soon as we get everything lined up, we'll open the "class" for enrollment. It's going to be a fun-filled day!

 Happy Sewing!

I've brought in some of Linda Ludovico's America 250 Stonehenge collection from Northcott Fabrics. Designed to commemorate the nation's 250th anniversary, this collection blends history with patriotism. As a bonus surprise, this fabulous eagle panel from Stars & Stripes 13 arrived with America 250.

Attention, bag makers! We have four NEW colors of 1.5" cotton webbing.

Create beautiful quilts with this book and time-saving precut fabric bundles like charm packs, 2 1/2"-wide strips and 10" squares. In Storybook Quilts, author and designer Laura Piland presents a delightful collection of 14 quilt patterns, each inspired by the pages of beloved picture books. I'm starting to bring in more of Amanda Marshall's Cotton Shot from Benartex, as it's one of my favorite blender lines! This week, we got the following ten colors.

Classes

Starting November 4th, join Debra in making Metro Rings, a beautiful double wedding ring quilt. Sew Kind of Wonderful makes it easy using 2 1/2 inch strips and the QCR tool.

Laurie is teaching another hand-piecing class. In this class you will make a 40" Mariner's Compass Medallion, suitable for a wall hanging. If you are interested in expanding your piece into a larger quilt, Laurie can make suggestions for borders! Class Starts November 7th.

On the evening of the 7th, settle into your favorite sewing space with your favorite Zoom-compatible technology for 2 hours of stitching and chatting. Everyone will have a chance to talk about what they’ve been working on and pose questions to the other quilters. Each month, a guest speaker shares her enthusiasm for an aspect of quilting – a designer, a technique, a hot topic -- with lots of inspiring ideas and photos.

There are seats available in the afternoon session of CQ Cares: Quilt of Valor Workshop on November 10th. These quilts are valued by the veterans they are awarded to. Please join us to work on one together!

Please note that we will be CLOSED on Thursday, November 27th in observance of Thanksgiving, and will close at 3PM on the 26th.

CQ Cares (Community Sewing)

We have free pillowcase kits available! We donate all pillowcases to Ryan's Case for Smiles, who in turn distributes them to children battling serious illness. Pick one up next time you're in the shop, then complete it and return on your schedule. Alternately, use your stash and any of the Million Pillowcase Project patterns.

We have placemat kits available at the shop; please stop by to pick up one (or two). For those who want to sew from their stash, click on the picture for the beginner-friendly Charm Square Placemats pattern, or you can use your own pattern.

Please return all completed placemats to Capital Quilts.
Thank you for your continued support of the Capital Quilts Cares program.

We have free small kennel quilts kits available. These little quilts are sent to shelters who take in pets displaced by natural disasters. To quilters, they are a great beginner project, a use for leftover fabric, and a place to practice free motion skills. To use your stash, visit www.kennelquilts.com
