We're gearing up for our last quilt show of the year! Quilting on the Line Quilt Guild's "Beside Still Waters" Quilt Show will be held  Friday, 11/14, 10-5 and Saturday, 11/15, 10-4. The show will feature 120+ Member Quilts on Display, Raffle Quilt, Raffle Basket, and Vendors. Interested? The lovely ladies in the Olney Library Quilting Divas have allowed us to display the results of their recent member challenge here in the shop. Each quilter also submitted a statement about their piece. Come in and take a look!

I know the class listings look a little light. Traditionally, quilters get a little overextended in November and December, so we scheduled accordingly. Rest assured, we are working on classes for next year. I am always looking for class ideas, so throw them at me!

Laura Marshall's Lakeside Days collection for P&B Textiles captures the serene beauty of lake life with a variety of designs. Just in from Accuquilt is the Flying Swallows 12" BOB die!

We have four lovely chambrays from P&B as well: teal, red, pink, and gray. Try using them instead of a solid or a blender to add extra color dimension to your quilts.

We've restocked our neutral batiks, white-on-white prints, and white-on-neutral prints.

Classes

Laurie is teaching another hand-piecing class. In this class you will make a 40" Mariner's Compass Medallion, suitable for a wall hanging. If you are interested in expanding your piece into a larger quilt, Laurie can make suggestions for borders! Class Starts November 7th.

On the evening of the 7th, settle into your favorite sewing space with your favorite Zoom-compatible technology for 2 hours of stitching and chatting. Everyone will have a chance to talk about what they’ve been working on and pose questions to the other quilters. Each month, a guest speaker shares her enthusiasm for an aspect of quilting – a designer, a technique, a hot topic -- with lots of inspiring ideas and photos. 

There are seats available in the afternoon session of CQ Cares: Quilt of Valor Workshop on November 10th. These quilts are valued by the veterans they are awarded to. Please join us to work on one together!

The Holiday Tree Skirt class I spoke about last week is scheduled for the 22nd of November. You can use either our pre-cut kits, or choose your own fabric and cut it on our Accuquilt machine in class!

November's Get it Done! is also on the 22nd.  Gather up all your unfinished sewing and bring it to Capital Quilts.  Enjoy time you can dedicate to getting those projects DONE!  Kat will be here to offer suggestions, guidance, and support.

CQ Cares (Community Sewing)

We have free pillowcase kits available! We donate all pillowcases to Ryan's Case for Smiles, who in turn distributes them to children battling serious illness. Pick one up next time you're in the shop, then complete it and return on your schedule. Alternately, use your stash and any of the Million Pillowcase Project patterns.

We have placemat kits available at the shop; please stop by to pick up one (or two). For those who want to sew from their stash, click on the picture for the beginner-friendly Charm Square Placemats pattern, or you can use your own pattern.

Please return all completed placemats to Capital Quilts.

We have free small kennel quilts kits available. These little quilts are sent to shelters who take in pets displaced by natural disasters.
