Our first Make & Take class is on the calendar! Cathy will be teaching Microwave Cozies on Sunday, October 25th. Your registration fee covers both the class and two pre-cut cozy kits - one large size and one small. Additional kits will be available for purchase. These make the best gifts! My family is constantly asking me to make them more.

The Winter Solstice marks the shortest day and the longest night of the year, when the sun reaches its lowest point in the sky. Since prehistoric times, this moment has been honored with festivals and mid-winter rituals—celebrations of the turning point when the diminishing daylight reverses and the hours of sunshine begin to grow again. This collection from Lewis & Irene is their tribute to the Winter Solstice in England, where they are based. All fabrics including the stripe and the border have metallic ink accents.

Classes

The Double Irish Chain is a timeless pattern featuring a diagonal lattice made from two chains of fabrics running across a neutral background. Debbie Ball is eager to show you how to make one yourself, starting August 27th. This is a great pattern to show off school colors. And, it is beginner friendly!

Join Kat on August 29th for Get It Done! You get your own table and 4 hours of uninterrupted sewing time to get caught up on those projects that you might have ignored over the summer. (Or, start something completely new! We don't judge.) While there is no formal instruction, Kat will be available if you hit a rough patch and need some help.

Joan from Bucklebee Tools is coming back this fall to teach her "Happy Feet" sneaker class! We have only TWO spaces available on Friday, September 25.  Spend the day making a pair of real sneakers, with quilted uppers and rubber soles. If you’ve been saving a bit of favorite fabric for a special project, Happy Feet sneakers are absolutely special. Your class fee covers your seat in class, instruction, soles, insoles, eyelets, instruction book, and cardstock pattern. Shoelaces will be available to purchase from the instructor.

Joan is once again offering a Sneakers Studio Session on Sunday, September 27th. This session will not have any formal instruction, and is intended for those who have already made sneakers, and are looking for time and/or tools to make/finish more.

Don't forget that you can sign up for Sandwiching Services (quilt basting) every month. Typically four "appointments" are available monthly.

CQ Cares (Community Sewing Projects)

We have free pillowcase kits available! We donate all pillowcases to Ryan's Case for Smiles, who in turn distributes them to children battling serious illness. Pick one up next time you're in the shop, then complete it and return on your schedule. Alternately, use your stash and any of the Million Pillowcase Project patterns.

We have placemat kits available at the shop; please stop by to pick up one (or two). For those who want to sew from their stash, click on the picture for the beginner-friendly Charm Square Placemats pattern, or you can use your own pattern.

We have free small kennel quilts kits available. These little quilts are sent to shelters who take in pets displaced by natural disasters.
