It's the last week of the All Mid-Atlantic Shop Hop! We hope to see some of you as you complete your planned routes. 

Our Microwave Bowl Cozy Make & Take class is nearly full, and we are starting to plan our next Make & Take. I was thinking either trivets or potholders; do you have a preference?

As this newsletter was being written, we received a bolt of gorgeous laminate material from Cloud 9 Fabrics. Since it’s wipeable and durable, it’s great for kids’ items, beach bags, tablecloths, aprons, rain hats, rain coats, and makeup bags. Melissa at Polka Dot Armchair has a great blog post on working with laminate, and her very next post is laminate sewing ideas with links to patterns! (I just ordered six of her Retro Travel Bag patterns for the shop.)

We have just received Touchdowns and Tailwags by Krissy Mast for Cloud 9 Fabrics. Get ready for wet noses and nostalgia in this collection all about celebrating football the old fashioned way. Think touchdowns, tailgates, and plenty of tailwags, and don't forget the footballs, foam fingers and footlongs!

New to us are these patterns from Villa Rosa Designs.

Kitchen Table Quilting is a popular quilt pattern brand founded by designer Erica Jackman. Known for creating scrap-friendly and precut-friendly designs, the brand focuses on building quilter confidence through clever, straightforward piecing techniques that make efficient use of fabric stash. We've had a few of these patterns in the past, and I've just brought in a new batch. 

Anthology Batiks has just sent us this fabulous patriotic batik.

If you're a bag maker, you're going to love these kits from Zakka Workshop, with patterns and all the hardware you need!

Classes

The Double Irish Chain is a timeless pattern featuring a diagonal lattice made from two chains of fabrics running across a neutral background. Debbie Ball is eager to show you how to make one yourself, starting August 27th. This is a great pattern to show off school colors. And, it is beginner friendly! Two seats are available.

Join Kat on August 29th for Get It Done! You get your own table and 4 hours of uninterrupted sewing time to get caught up on those projects that you might have ignored over the summer. (Or, start something completely new! We don't judge.) While there is no formal instruction, Kat will be available if you hit a rough patch and need some help.

Relax on Friday evening (9/4/26) with fellow quilters for a virtual quilting bee. Settle into your favorite sewing space with your favorite Zoom-compatible technology for 2 hours of stitching and chatting. Everyone will have a chance to talk about what they’ve been working on and pose questions to the other quilters. Each month, a guest speaker shares their enthusiasm for an aspect of quilting.

Join us on Wednesday, September 9th to make quilts for kids! All fabric is provided in this free workshop, but you do need to register and bring your machine & basic supplies.

Learn how to finish your own quilts in our Getting Started: Long Arm Rental class on September 14th. In it, you will learn all the basics you need to rent our HandiQuilter machines.

If you are interested in using ProStitcher Premium, the computerized stitching program, you must also take Getting Started: ProStitcher Rental Class on the same day.

Help make a Quilt of Valor! These quilts are tremendously important to the men and women who serve our country in the military. The group will make one quilt. All fabric is provided. Just register, then bring your sewing machine, supplies, and lots of energy! The workshop is on 9/14.

Joan from Bucklebee Tools is coming back to teach her "Happy Feet" sneaker class! We just had two spaces open up for the class on Saturday, September 26th.  Spend the day making a pair of real sneakers, with quilted uppers and rubber soles. If you’ve been saving a bit of favorite fabric for a special project, Happy Feet sneakers are absolutely special. Your class fee covers your seat in class, instruction, soles, insoles, eyelets, instruction book, and cardstock pattern. Shoelaces will be available to purchase from the instructor.

Joan is once again offering a Sneakers Studio Session on Sunday, September 27th. This session will not have any formal instruction, and is intended for those who have already made sneakers, and are looking for time and/or tools to make/finish more.

Don't forget that you can sign up for Sandwiching Services (quilt basting) every month. Typically, four "appointments" are available monthly.

CQ Cares (Community Sewing Projects)

We have free pillowcase kits available! We donate all pillowcases to Ryan's Case for Smiles, who in turn distributes them to children battling serious illness. Pick one up next time you're in the shop, then complete it and return on your schedule. Alternately, use your stash and any of the Million Pillowcase Project patterns.

We have placemat kits available at the shop; please stop by to pick up one (or two). For those who want to sew from their stash, click on the picture for the beginner-friendly Charm Square Placemats pattern, or you can use your own pattern.

We have free small kennel quilts kits available. These little quilts are sent to shelters who take in pets displaced by natural disasters.
